Elyas Algaseer will take on the newly created role of Co-Head in addition to his role as Head of Corporate Banking, Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In his new position, Elyas will work alongside his counterpart, Shichito Tobari, to jointly manage MUFG's Dubai office.
The appointment comes after MUFG's Dubai branch had a record year of revenues in 2015 and successfully launched the bank's Islamic Finance business for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Elyas has over 25 years' experience in capital markets, having worked across the Middle East and United Kingdom. He joined MUFG in 2013 as Deputy General Manager MENA, Dubai. Prior to MUFG, Elyas held senior roles at Credit Agricole, Bank Paribas and Banque Saudi Fransi.
