MUFG is well established as a leading provider of Islamic finance. We provide these services to our global Islamic client base through Islamic Windows in Kuala Lumpur and Dubai.

These two hubs benefit from the bank's wider network across 50 markets. By combining our long-term commitment to clients, our scale and expertise, and Islamic finance know-how, we have become a pioneer and a leader amongst Japan-headquartered financial institutions in Islamic finance.

We have been active in the market since 2008 when we started our Islamic banking operation in Malaysia. We are now supported by an in-house Shariah Committee, consisting of five Islamic finance scholars in Malaysia, as well as a Shariah Supervisory Board of three world-renowned scholars in Dubai.

We support our clients across a range of financial services: bilateral corporate finance, syndicated finance, project finance, export credit, trade finance, treasury services, debt capital markets and derivatives.

Regional Expertise

MUFG has branches across six continents and our dedicated Islamic banking teams in two Islamic finance hubs position us as a global leader. Our offering is supported by our global network.

Our hub in Dubai opened in 2015. This focuses on providing our customers in the EMEA region as well as central Asia and the Americas with Islamic finance offers. We offer global advisory services on Sukuk finance from our London office.

Our Islamic finance hub in Malaysia, which focuses on Asia and Oceania, was established in 2008. It has arranged multiple Islamic facilities for clients around the world since then, and obtained its Islamic Banking Window license in 2014 and started offering services in Malaysian Ringgit.
