MUFG has announced that it has strengthened its Leveraged Finance Division with the appointment of Jeff Bennett as Head of Leveraged Corporate Origination and Structuring. Jeff starts the role on September 6 and will be based in London, reporting into Nick Atkinson, Head of Leveraged Finance and Strategic Advisory, EMEA.

Jeff will lead MUFG's efforts to expand its leveraged business in EMEA. He will be responsible for leading transactions for levered corporate borrowers, particularly those with BB ratings or below.

Jeff joins MUFG from HSBC, where he was the global co-head of high yield capital markets. He has three decades of experience in leveraged finance across London, Hong Kong and New York, having also worked for Morgan Stanley and Bankers Trust.

Nick Atkinson, Head of Leveraged Finance and Strategic Advisory, EMEA, said:

“MUFG is adapting and strengthening in EMEA to offer the broadest range of solutions across commercial and investment banking. A key part of this careful expansion is increasing our ability to serve levered corporates, growing our share of this important market for the firm. We are confident that Jeff's experience in loans and bonds will enable MUFG to lead first class origination and structuring solutions for levered corporate clients, particularly those with BB ratings or below."

Jeff's appointment follows the recent appointment of Louis L'Heureux as Head of Financial Sponsors for MUFG's Leveraged Finance Division in EMEA.
