This appointment is part of the bank's pledge to become the most-integrated and client-focused financial group in the world.

It is closely linked to the series of new relationship mangers recently hired in the bank's key markets, with whom Stephane will work to promote MUFG's business.

Tetsuro Kono, Head of Global Markets Division for EMEA, said Stephane's arrival at MUFG will bring MUFG's ambitions to life.

“His wealth of experience across the EMEA region will enable us to broaden and strengthen our relationships with corporate and institutional clients – both existing and those we will win in the future. MUFG is a global proposition and Stephane's appointment is part of our promise to be a partner with a difference, offering one service to clients around the world."

Stephane will act as the first point of contact for coordinating FX sales promotions and managing a network of teams across the region.

Stephane Alex said he took the role because:

"MUFG felt like a bank with a difference. We know clients face significant uncertainties and headwinds ahead and I am pleased to be joining a business committed to providing answers through collaborative counsel," he said. “This is a growing, exciting business and I am delighted to be playing my part."
