December marks the end of 'Fitprints for Good,' a month long EMEA-wide fundraising challenge in aid of Laureus, which aimed to collectively cover 21,525km – the distance from Johannesburg to London, via our regional offices. We are thrilled to reveal the target was not only achieved, but actually exceeded, with a total distance of 30,937km covered!

All this hard work amounted to a grand total of £40,000 being raised for Laureus Sport for Good. Laureus believe in the power of sport to help young people around the world, and the money raised in this challenge will be used directly to advance the work of their 180 grass-roots programmes in 41 countries. You can find out more about our partnership with Laureus here.

Zinab Aldaraji, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for MUFG in EMEA, said:

"The Laureus campaign 'Sport unites us' couldn't ring more true; this shared goal was only reached thanks to all MUFG staff coming together and doing their part.

"We really believe in the work Laureus does, and we look forward to continuing to come together as a company to support young people reach their full potential."

MUFG colleagues from 16 EMEA offices took part, working together to reach this goal by walking, running, cycling, or swimming, either individually or through organised group sporting activities.

Some offices made use of the nature on their doorstep, such as in Brussels, where the team walked in the beautiful city parks, or Johannesburg, where colleagues enjoyed a hike in Modderfontein Nature Reserve.

Other locations took to their nearby facilities, with Dubai staff cycling the full length of the Al Quadra Cycle track, and London teams competing at the iconic Velodrome alongside Olympians Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton.

Spin sessions, organised runs, stairclimbing challenges and lunchtime walks were just some of the other activities enjoyed across the region.

MUFG are committed to supporting the sustainability of the next generation, society and environment, aiming to create measurable impact and change. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Laureus and all EMEA-wide staff for all their hard work and sweat in raising this tremendous amount, which will be used to make a real difference in the lives of young people around the world.
