MUFG has been named as the winner in the 2017 IFR Awards in the category of Europe Investment Grade Corporate Bond of the Year.
MUFG was awarded the accolade for its work on Volkswagen's €3.5bn hybrid bond. Volkswagen broke a two-year stranglehold after its emissions scandal to re-enter the capital markets in 2017, and in a series of successful comeback trades its €3.5bn hybrid bond issue was the high point that showed the automaker was back in style.
MUFG also won the North America Investment-Grade Corporate Bond award for its work on AT&T's US$22.5bn seven-tranche bond.
The Awards will be presented at the 2017 IFR Awards Dinner, taking place at Grosvenor House, London on Tuesday January 30 2018. Considered to be the most prestigious event in the global capital markets calendar, it will see over 900 of the world's most senior and successful investment banking professionals gather to celebrate capital markets excellence.
