MUFG has been named as the Bank of the Year for Japan for the fourth consecutive year by the Banker in its annual awards ceremony.

Recognised for its long-term strategy to expand its services and global footprint, MUFG's strategic investment into Bank Danamon Indonesia played a key role in the organisation's success during the course of 2018. MUFG's blockchain project with Akami Technologies was also cited as an excellent example of MUFG's efforts in keeping abreast with technology and adapting to changing client demands.

The awards celebrate banks that are able to demonstrate resilience in their balance sheet and finances along with achievements in overall strategy, including overcoming regulatory, competitive and economic hurdles during the preceding 12 months.

Sébastien Rozès, Executive Officer and Head of Corporate Banking for EMEA, said:

"2018 has been a real year of transformation for MUFG; adjusting the way we think and work to ensure the client is at the centre of everything we do. To be recognised once again by The Banker for our efforts during this time of change is a huge compliment and a true reflection of everyone's commitment."
