MUFG announces the appointment of Darryl D'Souza as Head of Financial Sponsors, Structured Finance, within the Investment Banking Division for EMEA.

In this newly-created role, Darryl will be responsible for engaging with MUFG's financial institution clients: primarily asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurance companies, where they are seeking to act as sponsors on structured finance transactions across all sectors.

He will be liaising closely with other departments across EMEA, as well as MUFG's structured finance teams around the globe. In his role, Darryl will also be working closely with the Financial Institution Coverage team in the Corporate Banking Division for EMEA - headed by Julian van Kan - which has overall client responsibility for all FI clients.

Darryl joined MUFG in 2014 and previously held a key role within the Infrastructure Finance team. He will continue to work on infrastructure transactions and will report to Robert Bartlett, Head of Infrastructure.

Phil Roberts, Head of Investment Banking for EMEA, said:

"Darryl's appointment reflects the growing importance of financial institutions as a client segment for the Structured Finance business. He will play a key role in further developing MUFG's Structured Finance offering to financial institution clients and will provide a central point of contact for these clients for Structured Finance matters. The reaction from these clients to our efforts in this area has already been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to deepening these relationships further."
