MUFG strengthened its primary fixed-income business with the appointment of Sarwat Faruqui as Head of EMEA Syndicate and Co-Head of International Syndicate. Sarwat will be Co-Head of International Syndicate with Brian Cogliandro who is based in the New York office of MUFG's securities business.

Sarwat will be based in London and report to Paul Young, International Head of Capital Markets, and Anthony Barklam, Co-Head of Capital Markets, EMEA.

Sarwat joins MUFG from Citigroup in London, where she was Head of Corporate Bond Syndicate. During her 20-year career at Citigroup she was voted 'Most Impressive Corporate Bond Syndicate Banker' in 2013 and 2014 by Global Capital and has worked on many landmark European transactions. Sarwat also spent several years trading secondary corporates in both the Euro and Sterling industrial and financial sectors. Sarwat trained as a Chartered Accountant and holds a BA(Hons) Physics from University of Oxford.
