MUFG EMEA today announces that it will be the title sponsor of the Paris Sumo Tournament 2026, taking place at the Accor Arena later this year.

The tournament, which will be held on the 13th and 14th June 2026, marks the first major sumo championship held in France in nearly three decades. Audiences will have the opportunity to see top-ranked rikishi (professional sumo wrestlers), compete at the highest level.

MUFG's sponsorship of the Paris Sumo Tournament celebrates Japanese tradition, discipline and cultural identity while bringing one of the world's oldest sports to a global audience.

Hidefumi Yamamura, Regional Chief Executive Officer, MUFG EMEA, said:

"This sponsorship is a meaningful opportunity for MUFG to share its Japanese heritage with communities across Europe and deepen our connections with clients and colleagues. We are proud to help bring this historic event to Paris. It is an exciting moment for MUFG to strengthen its cultural presence in Europe, while reflecting on and celebrating our more than 60‑year commitment to France."

The sponsorship builds on MUFG's successful support of the London Grand Sumo Tournament and underscores the bank's long-standing commitment to cultural engagement across the EMEA region.
