MUFG today announces the appointment of Burak Kaya as President of MUFG Bank Turkey A.Ş. The appointment marks the first time that MUFG's business in Türkiye will be led by a Turkish national, underscoring the firm's commitment to developing and investing in talent to strengthen its presence in the region.

Burak brings nearly 27 years of experience in the banking industry, including more than six years at MUFG, where he most recently served as Head of Global Corporates and Financial Institutions in Türkiye. Prior to joining MUFG, he served as Head of Coverage, Corporate and Institutional Bank at, Türk Ekonomi Bankası, a joint venture of BNP Paribas, and spent over 11 years at RBS, both based in Istanbul and in London.

In his new role, Burak will be responsible for spearheading the growth by evolving MUFG strategy, strengthening key client relationships and ensuring the controls continue to develop in line with the corporate initiatives and market conditions.

This appointment builds on MUFG's long-standing presence in Türkiye. Established as a representative office in 1986 under The Bank of Tokyo‑Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU), MUFG became the first Japanese financial institution to receive a banking licence in Türkiye in 2013.
