AMSTERDAM / DUSSELDORF, 24 February 2023 – MUFG Bank Europe (MBE) has announced the appointment of Akio Ryomoto as Head of Germany, effective 10 February 2023. In this role he will oversee all global and Japanese business of MUFG in Germany. Akio Ryomoto takes over from Shinichi Okumura, who will be returning to Japan.
Akio Ryomoto brings over 20 years of experience working in the Japanese Corporate Banking Department (JCBD) and has led the JCBD in Germany since 2019. Mr. Ryomoto has spent over 10 years working in Germany, developing an in-depth understanding of branch management in the country. He has also spent a short period of time in Amsterdam. He will be based at MUFG Bank Germany's office in Dusseldorf.
Mr. Ryomoto joined Sanwa Bank* in 1995. During his career he has held various roles in Japanese Corporate Banking in Tokyo. From 2008 to 2013, Ryomoto-san worked in Corporate Banking in Germany. He moved to Tokyo in 2013 to become Head of Internal Communications, before returning to Germany in 2019 to take on the role of (Deputy) Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division (JCBD).
